Fillings are used to fill cavities that can develop in teeth.
Put very simply, a cavity is a hole in a tooth that has developed as a result of tooth decay. If left unattended, it can grow and get bigger over time.
Regular check-ups with us here at Kreate Dental will help us know if you need a filling or not. Other signs and symptoms include increased sensitivity to hot and cold drinks, pain when you chew or bite down, and a persistent toothache. You might also notice food and debris getting caught or stuck in the cavity.
At Kreate Dental, we use natural cosmetic white composite fillings to match the shade of your new filling to the natural colour of your tooth. We absolutely love working with composite. Composite fillings are made of a plastic resin which can be glued directly to the tooth, strengthening and filling the tooth.
We will first numb the area that is being treated before removing any weak or decayed parts of the tooth. The tooth will then be cleaned, shaped, and dried before the actual filling is applied.
The life expectancy of a filling can vary from person to person but they will rarely fail within the first 5 years following placement.
White cosmetic composite fillings offer a more natural-looking alternative to traditional fillings amalgam fillings that contain tin, copper and silver, and we’re happy to provide them as part of our cosmetic dentistry range.
White fillings are made of a composite resin designed to look as much like a natural tooth as possible. They can also be used to improve the shape and shade of the natural tooth to help improve the quality of your smile and boost your confidence.
Getting a white filling is very like getting a traditional filling. We may give you a local anaesthetic so that the area is completely numbed, and you don’t feel anything. We’ll then remove any decay that’s present before filling the tooth with the composite resin.
This resin will be applied in layers using a natural layering technique which have to be cured under a special bright light so that each individual layer is hardened. Once this has been completed, we’ll shape and polish the tooth for a naturally brighter-looking smile.
